What is PDPA and how does it affect your organization?
Thailand’s Personal Data Protection Act B.E. 2562 (“PDPA”) is the new law that establishes a baseline standard of protection for personal data and governs its overall process from collection, usage, disclosure to disposal. After two years of publication, the PDPA will be fully effective on June 1, 2565, and will certainly affect the organization’s behavior toward personal data.
However, PDPA did not neglect the needs of organizations to utilize personal data and sought to strike a balance between the privacy rights of the data subject and the organization’s interest. PDPA is neither here to take sides with the data subject nor the organization, but aims to protect both and stipulates that they play within the rules.
